ON VACATION

I'm home again after our trip. It was great.
Here are some of the things we did:

Drove trhough Sweden to Denmark.

Stopped for polkagrisar on the way (I have my mouth full already).

Had a nice flat to stay in in Copenhagen. (Last time there was ten years ago when Julien and I did a two-month exchange. I noticed upon arrival I didn't remember much of the city anymore.)

Met Mari for some coffe and shopping.

Found a vintage sailor inspired dress, among other things.

Strolled around Tivoli.

Stopped at different places and small towns on the way back up.

Went swimming. (It's not me there jumping making the splash though. I'm a bit lame and seldom put my head below the surface. It's beacuse of the hair you know.)

Shouted Cows!/Horses!/Sheep!/Bambis! every time I spotted animals by the road. During some 1600 kilometers that makes quite many, but I just can't help myself.

Now I'll do a quick stop at our summerplace before it's time for Club Wanted, new comissions and back to work, all at once and really soon. Uh.

DESIGNERPOOL

26th of july designer Marina Smirnova from Moscow with her label “INSHADE” and Olga Samoschenko from Minsk were presented in a fashion show on the large stage at SHOWCASE DÜSSELDORF.

INSHADE
The new summer collection by designer Maria Smirnova is inspired by multi-cultural mixtures. The urban style is combined with a classical minimal cut rounded off with voluminous accessories. Here the designer presents a variety of textile technologies in modern fabrics and with complex styles. The basic colours of the collection are powder, skin tone, black, grey, chestnut and milky white.

Olga Samoschenko
Hailing from Belarus Olga Samoschenko drew on the sensual and elegant stylistics of Art-Déco for her current 2010 summer collection combining this with a magnificent array of colour. She knows exactly how to dress her customers for any occasion – whether practical and down-to-earth or unaffected and magnificent. The colour spectrum ranges from chocolate brown and emerald green through to deep black – while scarlet red and icy white create beautifying accents.

Designer Envy- Badass McQueen Clutches

No rings needed with these awesome McQueen clutches!
I want one now...

The Wish List

I love these tote bags designed by Oonagh O'Hagen for Browns focus.
On each simple white bag is a print of a luxury designer bag, such as Louis Vuitton and the words "I am not a Vuitton bag."
It's a parody of the very popular "I'm not a plastic bag" Anya Hindmarch designed a couple of years back which you could get for just a fiver at Sainsbury's.

My favourite out of the range has to be the Chanel 2.55 one though (see bottom photo)

I am definitely adding these to my wish list!
A nice twist on the famous 'to-die-for' designer bags and at a fraction of the price:

Just leaving to go on holiday by the way so it will be a week before I get the chance to get back to you all!

Style Inspiration- Ugly Betty

Follow my blog with bloglovin

You are probably thinking, “Yes I love Ugly Betty, her character is cute, the plots are silly but fun, the fashion references are good, and Marc and Amanda’s bitchy comments are hilarious but ‘style inspiration,’ really?”
Well yes, the costume designs for Ugly Betty are done by none other than the Patricia Field, who in case you didn’t already know is the genius behind the wardrobes in Sex and the City, The Devil Wears Prada and also Confessions of a Shopaholic.
So yes here is my unlikely style inspiration this week and I am taking inspiration from Betty's clashing patterns, quirky accessories, bright colours and cute sweaters...

Patricia Field, stylist guru

She has also done the warbrobes for Sex and the City, The Devil Wears Prada and Confessions of a Shopaholic.
And of course Ugly Betty...
Does anyone else have a weird style crush?!

Girl Crush- Lily Allen

My recent girl crush has to be Lily Allen.
Her prom dress, big gold earrings and scruffy trainers combo is no more and she is now seen out and about in all the hottest designers, especially Chanel (she literally has a 2.55 bag in every colour of the rainbow)
She is even the new face of the a/w accessories collection, specially chosen by Karl Lagerfeld. When asked why he chose her he simply said “Shes fun.”

Lily before the Chanel vamp, back when she wore trainers instead of Louboutins:

The Chanel ad campaign photos, just released today:

I also love her because every time I hear her song “Not Fair”about a guy who is rubbish in bed I cannot help but giggle:

Your thoughts on Lily Allen as the new face of Chanel?

So many things have happened since my last post!
I will let you know about them in list form, because I am sad and I love lists:
1. The summer holidays have started! So I have 7 weeks of relaxation and not having to stress or even think about exams or revising of any kind.
2. I have a fringe! Yes after having the same old centre parting for literally years I took the plunge and got it cut. Love it.
3. I got a train to London by myself which is the first time I have ever travelled on my own anywhere! I had a great time staying with my lovely cousins. We went shopping in the Topshop on Oxford Street (we made sure we went to all 3 floors of its Topshop goodness!) and also went to the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery. Haha I went a bit crazy finding all the postcards of my favourite paintings.
Great start to my holidays!
In Topshop though I ended up just buying the above outfit. I tried loads of stuff on but none of it seemed quite right and I "didn't want to buy for the sake of buying" as my mother says so I just got the sunnies and dress/top thing. I did buy a killer pair of gladiator heels from New Look though. Chuffed.
I hope you are all having a fabulous summer relaxing in the sunshine!

MORE ROADTRIPS

I took a little road trip just by myself and driving around the areas where I grew up and later on I picked up Ina, went for ice cream and drove around the part of town we'd like to live in where there's lots and lots of green and wooden houses.

I like my cars old. Older than I am. If I am about to pollute the planet I may as well do it with style. I have driven (driven as in moved from point A to point B) brand new fine cars in the harbour that are worth twice as much as my apartment. They are silent and smooth as cream to ride in but still -I think you should feel it when you drive! I actually want to make that effort to speed up. It always makes me go 'Vrooom!' when I hit the highway. (But then again I make that sound effect when I bike hard too so it's not really the car that brings that out in me...).

Well anyway, I love my car but since this blog normally tends to be more about clothes than cars may I just add that this outfit actually had a point; to make my skirt and top look like a dress together. I like combining two items into just one.

The belt and the car are vintage, the rest is semi-new stuff

Now I'm off for a slightly longer road trip with my secret boyfriend and I'll be back in August. Have fun until then!

(Btw If you spotted the bump in the front of my car; it wasn't me- contrary to common stereotypical misbelief I am blond and female but still know how to drive a car. That bump was caused by a man ;)

"Fashion is general. Style is individual."

I am so excited about all the different fashion related movies which are being made or released this year!

In this post I am going to take a look at the many up and coming fashion filled films...

Up first is "Coco Avant Chanel" which in English literally means Coco's life before Chanel. Audrey Tautou (who in the unlikely event that you don’t know her is from Amelie, The Da Vinci Code and the amazing Chanel No.5 commercial) plays the lady herself.
It is the
story of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel's rise from obscure beginnings as a cabaret singer to the heights of the fashion world and the start of a brand worth millions.

It is out in the UK on the 31st of July and I can’t wait to see it!

Next up is “The September Issue” which is a documentary style film which follows Anna Wintour and the rest of the Vogue team as they pulled together the biggest fashion issue ever in 2007. It weighed 5 pounds and was and remains the best selling issue ever with over 13 million copies sold.
It is released on the 11th of September in the UK and I am intrigued to see what the famously cold and conservative editor, Wintour, is like behind closed doors.

There are also confirmations of a film being made soon about the famous designer Vivienne Westwood with Kate Winslet reportedly being set to play the great fashion Dame. I am not sure about Kate playing the punk queen but I guess I will have to wait and see.

Also Ridley Scott is set to start directing a film based on the rise and fall of the Gucci fashion dynasty. Find out more information on the film here:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2007/dec/06/fashion.italy

Finally there is “Beyond Biba: A Portrait of Barbara Hulanicki” which is a documentary out this week on Biba, the brand who brought fashion to the British high street in the 60’s.

I will definitely be seeing all these films as soon as they are out!
It will be fascinating to see all these world renowned designers in a whole new light on the big screen...
